You don't even need an audience to get huge career benefits out of having ~3 essays on a personal web presence. You can use them as a proof-of-work in cold or coldish 1:1 reachouts like e.g. to hiring managers for jobs you want. It puts you *so far ahead* of the average reachout.https://twitter.com/david_perell/status/1235052245445742593 …

Can you be more specific on how to leverage them if you aren't an internet celebrity yet :p

Hiya Jane, I saw that FooCorp is hiring full stack engineers engineers. I love what you are doing with React these days; I've written about some of my experiences here: LINK. Would you like to chat about what working at FooCorp is like? Regards,

As long as I’m giving proscriptive advice, your goal at the end of that call is: “I’m enthusiastic about working at FooCorp. Can you help me get the ball rolling?” or, if Jane has hiring authority, “What do you recommend as the next step for exploring working together?”

(There are well-meaning line engineers who would hear “I want to work at FooCorp” and say “See /jobs” but that is not the optimal way to apply so you should signal that you know they have a better option and ask for the sale about it. I hate that this is a thing, but it is.)

(“They have a better option?” Virtually every company with a defined application process has a sidechannel for candidates that someone internally feels strongly about and you want to be in that sidechannel.)
