Safe evaluation of the authenticity of email and safe memory management are two things that humans believe they are much better at than they are. They’re intractably hard. You should protect as many people from having to do them as possible.

Some of those phishing attacks get extremely tricky Like the one where you: 1. Get an email from a "co-worker" with a suspicious link to some company 2. You search Google to see if it's legit 3. You click the first result on Google 4. *That* site infects your computer

Clicking a link should not be able to infect your computer. Typing your password into the wrong site is a hard risk to eliminate, but "I clicked a link and now my computer is infected" should not be a thing.
