Deploying web apps is so unnecessarily difficult
Putting my apps on a server has been the most frustrating part about building almost all of my side projects yet.

Hmm yes I tried them out and gave up after spending ~15 min trying to figure out the error. It also doesn't really seem like its built for hackers trying to spin up a side project, I get a very "enterprisey" feel

Do you have a copy of the error still?

It still is, they just realized there's no money in people's side projects and don't really encourage that.

I’m maybe biased as a rails user but there’s literally no other way I would deploy new projects other than heroku

ever since i became more proficient in aws and ops in general. i would opt for aws instead of heroku 90% of the time. the only time i wouldn’t is if i just wanted to put something out quickly without worrying about security or anything long term.

Elastic Beanstalk is so much harder to use than Heroku or Google App Engine.

The dev UX is really good. The infra is a little crufty and needlessly slow. We built a one click "speed your Heroku app up" for this reason. It boots your dynos on faster servers + handles ssl faster + http2: https://fly.io/heroku
