Potentially a values argument? If productivity is ratio of inputs to outputs, you can think a company is productive while questioning the outputs they're going after.

That generalizes straight back to engineering productivity though. Congrats, you got same number of hours as every other human and typed a lot of code. Unfortunately, it wasn’t valuable relative to other things you could have typed.
