A position I think should exist at medium-sized to large companies: the Intro Concierge. "IC, who is the best person internally to ask about credit risk in Southeast Asia?" "IC, need a warm intro to a a VC specializing in healthcare SaaS."

Workplace by FB is excellent for this. Even though topic search isn’t a strength, searching for a thing and just seeing who seems to appear a lot in the results worked pretty well for me

We absolutely need this and we created this position last year. We call it “Ask”. As you say the secondary benefit of understanding what has been asked is fascinating.

"we thought team x would do this, but it was actually alice over in team y, who used to know the TL of team x before they moved to position z who is the internal expert on this, maybe we should restructure?" is like, useful intelligence to execs also

Convince Patrick to hire a great VC portfolio ops person and a great management consultant turn startup person. Let them run for a year and you'd get clear proof. I bet it would be insanely valuable.

your mentioning slack made me realize that it might be possible to make such functionality automatic to some degree - by NLP on slack communication (including private chats) to re-use human-gained information, and perhaps probing on slack automatically to ask for human help..
