Question- fast forward into the future where robots do everything and universal basic income fully subsidizes peoples' living, what are they most likely to do with all their time?

One way of considering this is asking "How will humans live in an inconceivably rich society?", remembering "Hmm, somebody probably asked this question in 1800", and using our cheat code of living in the future to persuasively answer that question to the folks asking in 1800.

If history teaches us anything it's that scarcity has little to do with people's desire to control other people.

I like how you assume that UBI can **fully** subsidize the living. Can I please have a house in Monterey, CA subsidized by UBI? Or you suggesting that everyone should be satisfied by living in a communist residential paradise aka “khrushchyovka”? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khrushchyovka …

And *that* - "but I want my house to be in Monterey!" - is where the "competition" bit comes in. There *is* middle ground between the worst and the best, and people *are* willing to live in, say, the Midwest of the USA (not terrible, far from the best weather and status.)

Agreed. Instead of doing things out of necessity, people will pursue what makes them intrinsically content.

What if doing things out of necessity = contentment?
