I think the big question for me is whether you’re showing 1 hour of TV to X,000 viewers or 1,000 hours of TV to X viewers. (Scale up as appropriate.)

I periodically wonder about e.g. niche interests on YouTube like ASMR artists. It seems by casual observation that some people consume many, many times more minutes of that than they do of Game of Thrones. So can the monetization be comparable? Because if so, wowza.

I think some of them (let me be handwavy about “them”) are destined to be lifestyle brands. “She’s so my aesthetic. Of course I’d buy her (without loss of generality) 95% margin soap.”

I mean I effectively signed up for a lifetime subscription to Proctor and Gamble for the price of three minutes of absurdist humor which I wasn’t even in intended target audience for, so imagine what you can do if you try to supersaturate for a user and then use DTC infra.
