Totally. With a side order of absurdity that the “but Google did it” era of silly market sizing puzzles became a filter for “amazing product talent not encountering this BS yet” and “PM pipeline based on network effect and inbuilt interview gaming”. We need more of the former.

Had a bunch of product consulting gigs recently where they complain they “can’t find good PMs” and every time it’s due to the recruitment mindset. Super hard to change that. I’ve been working on helping them tap former founders and less reliance on a production line of MBA grads.
