I don't think I'd do on-prem SaaS as a small SaaS company, unless for whatever reason you're going for $100k+ ticket price. Probably should have put context for the recommendations front-and-center though.

It feels to me in the status quo you really need a team of people working on making on-prem work to make on-prem work reliably. (Though I wonder how much progress https://on-premises.com/ made since I took a look at them last; maybe this is approaching solved now.)

In most cases I agree with you. However under a few circumstances - and you'll generally know if you fall into one of them - on-prem is a great way to utterly destroy the "security" sales objection.
