There is increasing bifurcation in career paths and the returns to them in the engineering community, and increasingly it appears to be severe enough that not only do the sides having difficulty empathizing with each other, they affirmatively believe the other side doesn't exist.

Reporting but not endorsing: with respect to AppAmaGooBookSoft there is often a subcluster effect where HQ is perceived as having very different expectations than the rest of the global org, and where you can have an employee badge but be perceived as "not at the HQ bar, really."

If you're an engineer who's about to bake a cake that'll push your firm squarely into that "high-productivity" space, how would you approach negotiations with them to shift their compensation strategy from the low-end to the high-end? (Problem I have & unsure who to ask)
