Local supermarket has a machine to convert coins into notes here in the UK. An indicator of the pace of change is how slow but steadily touching cash is removed from daily life, and bank closures continue because there are easier ways to reach out to customers.

I made the mistake to travel to Europe this summer and for some of the cash I got exchanged I got a €500 bill. No business would take it and no bank would exchange it since I want a customer. And because I was staying in Airbnb’s I couldn’t even go to the hotel to ask.
