I was talking with a few folks about government programs to incentivize companies to open offices in their cities, and a frontier space here is pitching remote employees directly in a scalable fashion.

The honesty and efficiency of financialization has a certain clarity to it, but it might be a tall order to sell that idea to the taxpayers. If we bid with better services, the benefits get spread around and there aren't a bunch of grumpy op-eds in the local paper.

Its also complicated because the tax receipts in question would be property taxes, not income taxes. That would be a challenge to financialize.
