      My first thought when I saw this announced wasn't "no-deploy Fridays" but rather "oh crap there's an openssl vulnerability FREEZE EVERYTHING UNTIL WE GET A FIX IN PLACE".

      My thought is "No junior sysadmin accidentally spins down unused capacity on Black Friday", which feels like "At the scale of the economy, sure, that has certainly happened before."

          Both of your thoughts are wrong. At Amazon, no-deploy-fridays is a strict SVP directive. There are very few firing offenses there. Breaking this rule is one of them. Oh, and it’s also no-deploy December. And most of November. And a big part of April. And February. And July. 😱
