Do you think some/all of those are bad assumptions? I'm curious about other design directions too, but those 3 seem pretty good catch all ones to me?

I think they assume a homogeneity of the experience which may not describe what everyone wants from a home for an extended period of their life. (That's another assumption, honored in the breach: that you're basically always in your forever home, especially if you're an owner.)

Could be that, like many other purchases, what we prioritize when buying a house is meant partly to orient ourselves toward an aspirational version of ourselves (that we may or may not ever end up becoming)

"I may not cook much or host dinner parties much now... but in the future, who knows?"

All of those observations fit our home 100%. Yet another reminder that we live counter-culturally.
