An easy metric to predict might be that a decade from now, software engineers will have a significantly higher salary relative to doctors & lawyers compared to the ratios today.

Additional risk: for jobs like software engineer, much of what's *paid* for the work is speculative based on expected value of expected work product - and that value is set by a market. So, also has speculation on future value of software built-in.
