Similar story here Granddad was doing really well in pre-partition India. Then Pakistan and India split into two separate country and suddenly northern India was no longer safe for Muslims He left everything and took his family over to Pakistan, starting from scratch

Family didn't have much, but he was super focused on getting his kids a great education at a time when even grade school was expensive Nine kids, most became successful doctors and engineers (the top professions at the time) and even there next generation is reaping the benefits
