So much wrong with this. Banks doing this have the "we are so important come to us" attitude. What has traditionally worked in banking? Go to where your customers are! My idea for transient business/co-working. Have a bank place a banker at a desk at WeWork etchttps://twitter.com/patio11/status/1210590470344237056 …

Why don't they do this? Most banks are afraid of bankers leaving the building and working remotely. There are "security" risks. The idea of a lender being remote and having access to some/any systems is far fetched.

More progressive banks are starting to enable little pieces of systems through CRM that can be accessed in the field. A lender really needs access to CRM plus some easy workflows to access data. Basically validate a lead in the field and record it.

Underwriting can handle it from there. Top lenders are rarely in their office. If a branch is always full of lenders the bank is probably not doing well. Sitting and waiting for business to walk in the door is an out dated strategy.

I met one lender who hung out at the local grain silos. He is in a very rural area, and that was the local business hangout. Said it took him a long time to build trust that he wasn't just selling something. But once he had the trust almost everyone banked with him.

I have started to see “Someone from Chase will be around at noon to answer questions about business banking” at WeWorks and it is *clearly* something they should do more of.

Yes, that's a genius move on their part. I've seen accountants doing this as well. Some accountants just set up shop there, and voila, their book of business explodes. Most companies do business with who is convenient.

If I were an accountant that’s what I’d do. Set up in common room, put out a sign saying “I do accounting for SaaS companies. Feel free to interrupt me.” Might even make sense to rotate your office between multiple WeWorks.
