Talked to an eastern german bank who were considering this. But not just as thirdspaces but as space in general to local cooperatives. (Eg kindergardens, coffeeshops, etc)

A bank can be an excellent third place for all-cash transactions, e.g. when selling an iPhone on Craigslist. When you meet at the bank, there's a security guard on duty, cameras everywhere, and you can deposit the cash before you leave the building.

I think most of the coworking spaces are not designed for remote collaborative work, it’s designed for individual focus time work. Banks will amplify that unless there are many small meeting rooms built.

The key ingredient for a third place is community. Most "convert empty retail into coworking" attempts seem like contrived money grabs.
