There are plenty of PowerPoint presentations with approximately the complexity of a pitch that that will straightforwardly hit that number in professional bills *without* hating access to a funding event, just on a time and materials basis for an expensive professional.

“What really?” Lawyers, high-end accountants, and the like routinely work for hours to get the data, arguments, etc backing a single slide. Professional labor costs what it costs.

Definitely. A great deck is easily worth $100k+ Deck needs to be built around a story, and execute it flawlessly. It’s like storyboarding a movie.

What's the best deck you've seen?

OP is way funnier if you think of it as a guy looking to get someone to design a backyard deck for his home.

Investing 250K in the equity of someone else's home in SF will probably have better returns in average

I made a pitch deck once, a long time ago, for a fintech, freelance. Charged ~$3,000. I definitely undercharged, and also forgot to upcharge for the annoyance of having to deal with the deck format. Was offered ~$20,000 to do this about a month ago, declined.

Unless you are on a roadshow for an IPO, this is utter nonsense. You have a weak story or the wrong investors if you need this kind of production value. Any agency is polishing your story. Spend money on developing a convincing story. That is the entrepreneur’s job.

Yes. From a T&M view, $20k with a competitive designer rate backs into only a few weeks of work. Given client context transfer and ongoing back-and-forth cycles, doesn’t seem high at all

The Laws of Client Work are (my view): 1/ Work will take longer than you think and go through paths you won’t anticipate. Bc client services 2/ If you’re good, there is ALWAYS room to charge more : )
