Hey Internets, random question for you: are there any US cities which have a user-legible branding on apartments which is larger than a building or development? Like, the residential equivalent of a WeWork, available in many places and extremely comparable internally at all ?

Asking out of pure curiosity; I didn’t live in US cities long enough to notice it was a thing, but it is an increasing thing in Tokyo, previously through extremely large developers with persistent reputations but increasingly through segmented branded initiatives.

Like, if you are a VP at BigCo or a lawyer or doctor and you just got transferred to Shibuya, you could reasonably say “OK Residia Tower has to exist there at approximately the price and layout I expect, when can you show me a unit”

(I am about a Google away from knowing whether there is a Residia Tower in Shibuya but the great thing about branding is that I don’t even need to Google that because Residia Tower of course either exists in Shibuya or is in the pipeline. It’s Residia Tower. It’s Shibuya.)

Seattle has AVA, which is in a few other cities in the US.

AVA is the new brand for Avalon, which actually fits your question well — having lived in one of their buildings for 6 months as they went through rebranding (and major renovations), there is a clear effort to make the brand stick with you

For *purchasing* residential accommodation, there are some developers in Vancouver which have done enough (~ two-digit # of developments with ~100 units each) to become household names; but usually as "X has horrible build quality, avoid at all costs".

For rental accommodation, the first thing which comes to mind is "university dorms" which although not a single legal entity is nonetheless a generally consistent quality across the country (and in the summer is often available to non-students).
