One significant hurdle I'm noticing in contemporary public intellectualism is that people who should absolutely do video write blogs or newsletters, people who should write make podcasts, and people who should do audio like crazy agonise in front of a camera.

I accept the point. What I meant was more ~ it seems to be hazard as opposed to feedback: if someone is making a podcast when they should be writing a blog, they'll get ignored / mocked but that information =/= clearly "go write instead". I'm thinking how to get that info sooner.

So is your main argument “people are choosing the wrong medium”? Who/what decides e.g. “should be writing a blog”? Is it possible this is simply a case of “you’re not good at podcasting yet; need to do it 100 times first”?
