I’ve been practicing this the past few months. There are a lot of things and people I don’t like, even want to completely avoid— because they don’t mesh with *me.* Doesnt mean they’re Objectively Evil. I try to make that clear whenever I can, esp on the trigger-happy internethttps://twitter.com/heyjenbartel/status/1207067564360306688 …

Hmmm. I like that for some scenarios! For others where my beliefs are pretty deeply rooted in values that mean a lot to me, but I don’t necessary think people who disagree are bad people, just value other things I can’t relate to... “aesthetic” seems to downplay my values

Vegetarianism may be a good example. I’ve never hated people who ate meat without care, I don’t think they’re bad people who deserve any punishment. But my values go deeper than aesthetics.

Starbucks gets my money simply because their ordering process is lowest friction. Order on app, go to store, pick up, leave.

I have an aesthetic preference for coffee that doesn't taste burnt, therefore no Starbucks which I think tastes burnt. I have found that this is an oddly rare preference. People tend to equate bitter with "strong" and therefore energizing. Which is backwards.pic.twitter.com/mepYBQ8232
