I like this thread on the choice between being right or effective. I also think a meta-lesson is that you should choose to be effective *with regards to problems that matter.* You will face substantial temptation to either be right or be effective where neither choice matters.https://twitter.com/amyhoy/status/1205625447192510465 …

This is obvious and non-controversial when the topic is "How does my significant other consume burgers?", but the set of things that don't matter at all is much, much larger than it is widely assumed to be and overlaps with the set of things people are passionate about.

It also overlaps heavily with the set of things that people are incentivized to convince you matters.

I have figured out that one of my super powers is finding problems others don’t see & being able to prioritize which is more important accurately. So q: what do you do when ppl don’t listen and then you turn out to be right. How r u effective in that?

Plausibly you should either a) be a short investor or b) turn the "find the problem others don't see" lens on the effectiveness of e.g. a consultancy which is good at the functional area but bad at sales and possibly client relations. You can found that consultancy if necessary.

That might sound flippant but having extremely good taste for finding points of leverage in a business and identifying which points of leverage are relatively weak is actually a very, very useful talent in consulting.
