“Want to get there 2 minutes earlier for $5?” Oooooh do I think that the notion of “We’ll sell you a better service if you’re price insensitive” is likely to be controversial but that strikes me as great business.

Yeah, favor networks make it more exclusive. If anyone could just pay more, then anyone could go. There is some status that comes with having a connection. This argument falls apart when it comes to hotel concierges, though.
