Do you ever get the feeling that many restaurants would benefit immensely from formalizing "being a regular" ?https://twitter.com/StuartBlitz/status/1198262288555421697 …

Interesting pricing model from the killer, local ramen place - wonder why more restaurants don’t try this? Lock in sales + get operating $ early. pic.twitter.com/CwWPWNT53e

n.b. This specific offer is going to cause someone at least a little bit of heartburn due to credit risk; the credit card processor is on the hook for $$$$ if the restaurant isn't capable of delivering ramen in 10 months due to e.g. closing. A survivable amount of heartbhurn.

For similar reasons I suspect at least one of my cafes is eventually going to start selling subscriptions. It's silly for them that they have to win my business away from the closest pot of coffee every day, right. Just ask me "What would it take for you to go semi-exclusive?"

Isn’t this what loyalty cards do tho, at places like coffee shops? Maybe not restaurants....

It would be really nice to have a digital system that is more automated. I thing something about "I have free food here 3 days a week" feels/sounds better than "I need to eat here 10 times to *earn* a meal" also.

Brueggers bagels in Boston used to sell bottomless mugs, for a couple hundred dollars a year. It was discontinued though, I wonder why?

Always thought there was a good business opportunity for this crossed with an Amazon bookstore. Pay to get in, enjoyba book. Like it? Walk out with it, bills you Amazon price + x automatically, Amazon immediately sends a replacement.

Fwiw, other countries (according to my father) have a version this. Not unlimited subscription, but like 1 meal a day for a month. Meal would vary based on what house did that day (ie, daily special). And Muscle Maker Grill has a Meal Plan bulk discount thing along same lines.

I would love to pay $10/month to my local cafe for 20% off my orders. For the cafe it provides recurring subscription revenue, why isn’t anyone doing this..? Same idea for restaurants.
