n.b. This specific offer is going to cause someone at least a little bit of heartburn due to credit risk; the credit card processor is on the hook for $$$$ if the restaurant isn't capable of delivering ramen in 10 months due to e.g. closing. A survivable amount of heartbhurn.

For similar reasons I suspect at least one of my cafes is eventually going to start selling subscriptions. It's silly for them that they have to win my business away from the closest pot of coffee every day, right. Just ask me "What would it take for you to go semi-exclusive?"

Hm. On the other hand, doesn't this mean they may make a lot less money off of regulars who would've kept coming without a discount?
-
The math is really non-trivial, right? It depends on the churn rate of regulars, whether there is preferential uptake at different points on the curve, whether they experience abusive behavior and at what rate, how much staff will support it (a problem at tip-driven places), etc

as more restaurants feel the burn of the middleman platforms + delivery services 1) increasing their take rate and eating into the restaurants margin 2) delivering poor customer service this seems like it'll happen more and more, and IMO it's smart
