Seriously, best time ever to be in the business. The technological substrate you’re building on is heaps better, the market larger and more accessible, and the community more supportive and developed than back in 2006 when I got started.https://twitter.com/tylertringas/status/1192887736522485760 …

The Peace Dividend of the SaaS Wars means it's become totally possible for even solo founders to bootstrap to a real business with real customers, real metrics, and line of sight to strong PMF... all as a side hustle👊

anecdote, but I have a pitch on monday from a guy I reached out to from Twitter, who has a little SaaS thing that's unique & in a niche field, looks like he's founder & only employee, and I'm a gate keeper at a fortune 100

Given the legal and compliance concerns that F100 cos have, is it feasible that a solo hacker could clear the hurdles?

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer: yes.

Fair. More complex question: how is this feasible? By selling to specific teams with different requirements? Curious bc I was explicitly told yesterday that this was the main reason I should pursue SMB vs enterprise for my own work.

By picking something which is tractable, learning the requirements of whatever customers are common in your market and getting actual answers to their questions, starting in a low-ceremony part of it and moving upwards (extremely common for solo operators), etc.

If you know you're going to get asked for proof of insurance then paying $2k annually to an E&O carrier of your choice then sending the PDF over email when asked checks one thing off the list. There are a finite amount of things on the list and they generally rhyme.

Interesting. I don't tend to think of organizational APIs as something that can be reverse engineered, but it makes sense that it's doable as long as the individual hurdles aren't themselves insurmountable. Encouraging to hear that's not the case.

something I've run into is vetting smaller (and sometimes even inexplicably large) vendors that just, seemingly aren't aware of how large companies work

If you're selling a SaaS product and don't support our SSO, that's a tripwire that makes things harder If your product involves using our data, and our data is leaving our network, that's a tripwire etc, etc important to have some concept of that going in
