“Millennial” seems to be increasingly used less to name a generation and more to describe a life stage. You millennial for a bit in your twenties, some people millennial longer, graduation criteria are a bit hazy but clearly no millennial is married with kids and a mortgage, etc.

I’m pretty sure the #1 defining factor in millenialism is denying classic economic milestones as signs of maturity. The interesting part is that they replace them with emotional maturity milestones, for which a massive amount of “mature” boomers do not qualify at all.
