A major problem with private prisons is they incentivize ongoing incarceration and recidivism, but could states incentivize private entities to *decrease* recidivism? E.g. Could you bid to “sponsor” an ex-felon, and get paid by govt as they turn their life around and thrive?

You could imagine a world where instead of firing you the first time you no-show your boss would say “Look buddy you’ve got to keep your ^}*} together. Let’s do this. Do you need me to do wake up calls for a few months? I will do that; you’ve got to stay sober though.”
