I bought some WeWork bonds with the intention of holding them to maturity. My thesis: 1) I believe the business is a good one on a per-location basis over medium term. 2) SoftBank is pot committed to success of it. 3) I distrust bandwagons and wanted to short this one.

Makes sense. And I very much don’t want to do this. I just always assumed individual company’s corporate bonds were out of reach for regular investors.

They were once more popular but are a niche product for retail investors. Probably more niche over time due to a combination of a) a retail investor generally wants the bonds for income and a e.g. bond ETF is almost always a better vehicle and b) poor economics to broker.
