I'm curious how larger remote teams are keeping everyone "in the know" about new hires? Do you send out recurring "new hires" emails to the team? Have a "new hires" Slack channel?

We do a few things: 1) Direct teammates learn about all hires via an email when someone is hired. 2) We encourage teams to use spinups to get new person to meet ~everyone on the team 3) New folks optionally record a 1min video, visible to anyone; we share a supercut at all-hands

Can you clarify what a typical spinup is?

Approximately two weeks. First one is orientation to Stripe as a company, workplace, and collection of businesses; lots of classes. Second one is typically less structured, with more classes from your team specifically (“Here’s patio11 explaining our content strategy”) + coffees.

Ideally you’ll end week 2 or 3 having had a 1:1 informal getting to know you session (coffee, walk outside, whatever) with somewhere like 15 people: your whole team, your manager, your manager’s manager, and a few folks from peer teams.
