Warren Buffett actively cultivates an image of being a homespun middle American regular old guy. It is an extremely effective public image which has great aesthetic appeal to me. That character is possibly unsophisticated enough to call BoA CS and expect to get to the CEO.https://twitter.com/morganhousel/status/1181955293799964673 …

This is amazing. Buffett wanted to invest $5 billion to save Bank of America and called the bank’s customer service line. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-10-09/that-time-buffett-s-investment-was-blocked-by-bofa-s-call-center … pic.twitter.com/RLzeRxqvCS

One time for an intro finance class in college, I was analyzing the financial statements of Domino’s Pizza and there was some weird line item I didn’t understand so I called the corporate line, asked for the CFO and they put me through!

I remember in college trying to invite former First Minister of Northern Ireland and Nobel Peace Prize winner David Trimble to an event. I called his office and asked to speak to an assistant and he replied “oh, it’s just me here most of the time, how can I help?”

But he might conceivably ask an assistant for BofA's phone number without being specific about why he's asking or which one he wants.

For me this feels more like a "this works in theory" rather than following convention kind of approach. Reminds me story about Turing handing in an unsigned national service form. (Not saying anything about the veracity of either story)
