yes it works when people actually give a damn about the people they share stuff with. Obvs, it’s not about the dishes, but they’re a canary in the cultural coal mine and usually a leading indicator of other problems.

Paradoxically, we saw an uptick in other careless behaviors when a lot of basic caretaking activities started behind handled by “process” and dedicated cleaning staff. Suddenly, when things become someone else’s problem, the slope becomes noticeably slippery.
