This is how I feel about every hotel shower. Why anyone feels the need to get creative with the mechanics for turning a bath into a shower or adjusting the flow/temperature I don't know.

Pretty common design in Europe. Relies on force of habit (“some other manufacturer less obsessed about minimalism will have trained my users by using color-coded labels and taller stopper-release levers on its aesthetically inferior product”).
