I had a surprising realization: Square POS kiosks give me enough mild anxiety about whether I should tip for transactions that shouldn't really require tipping that I'm thinking of carrying cash again so that I don't have to use a credit card.

Fwiw, a 5 second decision that can save or cost $2 extra is a higher hourly rate than literally every salaried person I know. And if you repeat that 500x per year, it's not insignificant.

You're paying and tipping those who make a lot less so they can serve us our $5 lattes. Understood it can come off as a burden, but $2 tips are not going to put you in the hole. Pay it forward.

i see both sides of this. tipping anxiety is real (at least for me) AND I generally prefer to be generous. BUT, i'm not sure even sure what generous is anymore since we now are prompted to tip on everything & I was only taught what to tip wait staff, room service, etc.

also am surprised one of these cos hasn't written a new tipping best practices guide... would be killer content marketing.
