From a traveler recently: “I’m going to visit a barber while I’m here in Tokyo.” “Oh really?” “Yeah I am very interested in Japanese barbers because of YouTube.” “Do you speak Japanese?” “No but I have memorized my lines. Can I practice them on you? *nails it*”

In Japan they did an eye test, updated my perscription, took my centers from my existing glasses, and had new ones done - CORRECTLY the first time - WITHIN AN HOUR.

My eyes are real bad, so I need really strong lenses, and my eyes are reeeaaally sensitive to the centers of the lenses being placed right. US places never have the lenses I need in stock. They mark my centers by literally using a marker on a lens and looking at my eye.

I had to have one pair of glasses remade 3-4 times, because the centers were off, and it's a 2 week wait every time. Usually have to reorder at least once.

The difference in competence was and is staggering. And they spoke excellent English too!
