I’m still waiting for film studios to realize if they would let you stream a blockbuster movie from home on opening night for $50 they would make even more money

Really? I’m pretty sure that is already an option if you’re willing to spend many thousands, to me the question is what the right price point should be. Maybe $50 is too little, would $200 kill the theater experience?

If the studios sold direct then the theatres would have to re-evaluate how much they want to invest in a new film. Fewer showtimes, less opportunity for people to see the movie. Less time spent promoting the movie with trailers before other films. Studio probably loses in this

It might work .... And it might not. They have a lot of contracts and tradition in place, also direct-to-dvd direct to streaming already exist, we call it Netflix.... There's still a lot of eyeballs that are not streaming. And some of us like to get out of the house :-)
