Two particularly good notes here are explicitly asking for a postal address to repeat the request via letter, an action which serves no purpose other than to say “I am keeping, and will in the event of a controversy have developed, a paper trail that will be viewed as accurate” +

asking for an identification of their preferred regulator, which is a bit of swaggering braggodaccio hinting “I am ambivalent to which venue we pursue our differences in because I am confident of my successful execution in any of them at any time. Suit up.”

Note that the supermajority of people who have this issue will write “OMG that’s not helpful call me or I will sue you”, which is a succinct way to say: a) I am not a professional b) I do not intend regulator action c) I have never worked with a lawyer

As a complete aside I am baffled by how it is impossible for these companies to have a “serialize_gdpr” method on their internal user objects.

We implemented that interface on a per regulator basis for thousands of asset types on millions of trades at my last job at an investment bank, but sure tell me how reg reporting is hard Silicon Valley.
