Tagging the above tweet as being in no way sarcastic; they factually are one of the best real estate operations in the US (Walgreens and McDonalds also very good at this even within their categories) and they absolutely will take two corners.

At least in Chicago, which is my one data occasional data point on US groceries, there are *four* chains I did not meaningfully interact with in my childhood that appear to be expanding as aggressively as the city will let them. (Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Aldi, and Mariano’s.)

So many industries seem to have a million competitors trying to do exactly the same thing but damn few trying anything different. And tech pros know that even great technology is barely scratching the surface of what the underlying tech is capable of.

Particularly with so many startups focusing on failing fast instead of pushing the limits of tech. Lean methodology is picking the low hanging fruit clean but leaving the higher fruit totally untouched, and it’s getting weird. Never seen opportunity so top heavy before.
