I really don't understand why this is true, but every time I walk by a bank that I haven't seen before I think "Ooh I wonder what their checking account is like", as if it would be totally unlike the checking account at literally every other bank.

And you can imagine the angel/devil on my shoulder arguing about whether I should spend an hour to open another account: "This is really silly and would serve no purpose." "You could need a mortgage from them someday." "Then open it that day." "Helps if it's aged." "Marginally!"

How many checking accounts do you have? I've only ever had at most 2 at once.

Five if you're being strict about the definition of checking account; nine if you count the Japanese account which is closest in character to what an American would consider a checking account. But I've had to stop myself four times in last two weeks.
