Random unsolicited endorsement: http://getethos.com was willing to write a $1 million term life insurance policy at a reasonable rate without requiring a medical exam or more than about 12 minutes of attention (over 3 days).

I think the genius of the model is that there are large classes of insurance buyers for whom detailed medical underwriting offers vanishingly little value over "Here's our list of excluded conditions. Any of them? Tobacco? No? OK, best available rate."

Do you have any reception recommendations for foreigner living in Japan but not americans

For term life insurance? If you've got a medium-term or longer status of residence (i.e. not a tourist status of residence) Japanese insurance companies will underwrite you, although they'll likely require an exam. It's paperwork intensive and mostly in Japanese. Work w/ agent.

Too many tech people think they are covered by employer provided life insurance benefit. Boy are they wrong. You get sick, you lose your job, you die. No life insurance payout because it went away with the job.
