Re: your 2nd one - almost every women I’ve discussed this with would never stay in an AirBnB while traveling solo. So you’re not toally off the mark.

The biggest thing I missed was that AirBNB would effectively be facilitating an asset-light hotel chain as the main business with a sideline in renting out rooms, etc.

My Facebook misjudgment stemmed from thinking that they couldn't succeed because their management team were creeps.

A few of their single-digit employees were on campus looking for coders in 2004, and told everyone interested to meet them at a bar off campus. I loved the idea of FB, rolled into the bar with my girlfriend (it was Friday night after all, and free beer is free beer).
