I know I am late to the party, especially given my job, but wow is “Put your transport card and your top-of-wallet credit card on your phone and NFC for all IRL transactions” is surprisingly fun and useful.

I visited Tokyo 2 years ago and distinctly remember a void in culture space where “accepting credit cards for everyday transactions” should be.

This is gradually improving. The industry and government are in the middle of a HUGE push right now to get the percentage of electronic transactions from 20% to 40%.

So imagine billion dollar marketing campaigns, every bank trying to (for first time) get debit cards into every account holders' hands, and fleets upon fleets of salarymen going into every restaurant in the country to get them to install a reader.
