What is going to be the next ubiquitous technology that will makes most sci-fi seem outdated in a decade? Recent examples include members of supposedly advanced civilizations lacking capabilities of anyone with a cell phones and armies ignoring obvious uses of drones in warfare.

(I suppose that depends on whether you think a policy response to de-escalate from having that capability is likely but it's very, very not obvious to me that that capability is something which is a We Would Never Use It Under Any Circumstances. Therefore, it will be routine.)

Yah - Privacy seems to be going away in ratchet-like manner. One tragedy or one extra convenience at a time. I can see it being reversed only after some totalitarian disaster.
