How many hours would a standard CS grad spend *actually writing code* during the course of their degree?

Wait, databases? Seriously?

Yes. There was a 300 level course available in them but it wasn’t emphasized as important. I wrote my first line of SQL for Bingo Card Creator.

Source control and modern-day web technologies are both frequent misses in CS programs. Im my case, those were learned in internships and *then* applied in the classroom.

Same. At least at the time these were considered "commercial" subjects, not that interesting from an academic / intellectual standpoint. Also, almost all work was solo so no need for source control.

Similar experience here. Source control was discovered at first internship.
