Answering my own question here re: the enterprise, by the way: there are going to be 10+ unicorns which ball up the OSS stack that the cool kids would use to ship a generic CRUD app and sell it for $100k+ a year to every insurance carrier et al in America.

Imagine sales decks which explain the interaction between Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, the Hashicorp stack, AWS, and five other things on one slide. The next slide is: “$PRODUCT and you’re done.”

Its also not tech you are selling, you're selling trust in an easy to use system in an environment where distrust is the norm (e.g. "how can someone abuse the system"-like mindset). That is really hard to do, even if the tech is already there.

It is also why seemingly bad tech is still used, even though there is better out there (e.g. Dutch banking systems don't work in the weekends?!?), but the systems are proven and trusted to work. Or it is known where they don't (and need extra attention).
