A thought I've had a few times about Lambda School, as a father: "Hmm either I could pay for a child's education or I could pay for Lambda School, living expenses for a year, a one-year trip to any major world city, *and* $100k of seed funding to first startup/house/etc."

Interesting. I assume work also provides a professional network? Back to your original proposition: I’d still shell out for college if targeting a future in the US. Unfortunately it’s not about skills acquisition, but meeting your future professional and social network.

Maybe I was just bad at college's actual objective, but one would have a much, much superior social network to mine at graduating by writing five cold emails on Monday morning and doing a Skype call with anyone who said yes that week, then sleeping for the next 207 weeks.
