Picoheresy: public key cryptography is not a technology we should expect any end user, including technical end user, to understand. It should be an implementation detail in an app or tool chain and otherwise entirely opaque.

at large and assuming a robust setup this makes sense to me; at small scale, it not being opaque seems convenient for ad-hoc setups
