Play currently happening includes open flames in fire pits, woodworking with saws, some nailing, and a lot of playing on traditional park equipment which looks handmade over natural dirt and rock surfaces.

Kids look to be having a ball, adults are keeping a watchful eye, civilization does not appear to have collapsed into feuding tribes of hunters and gatherers.

Last time I walked past a couple of kids were trying to ride a tricycle through a mud pit while a three year old with a hammer stared at them. Great areas.

Popular concept in the Nordics called an "adventure park." A key concept is risk (danger undertaken intentionally) vs. hazard (unexpected danger). Places that look less safe might result in fewer injuries because kids do less crazy things.
