I'm wondering what the "reward" should be for protecting your selfie, and what the game theoretic implications would be of a hoarded selfie being worth (e.g.) 5 points, but a selfie being distributed to 20 classmates being collectively worth 20 points (obvious barter opportunity)

I don't think you have to make betrayal incentive compatible, and I think that in fact that's a core thing to learn for the exercise.
